Laos and Myanmar sign visa exemption for normal passport

(KPL) The Lao PDR and the Union of Myanmar have recently signed an agreement on visa exemption for holders of ordinary passports.

The agreement was signed during the working visit to the Union of Myanmar by Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Thongloun Sisoulith on 17-20 November.

According to the agreement, the citizens of Laos and Myanmar who hold the ordinary passports with six-month validity can enter and stay in each other?s country for 14 days without visa.

The above-mentioned agreement will come into effect as of 20 December, 2009.

thank for sharing, this is good new for ppls from two countries and it s good news for me so I will find a time to visit my old friend over there. i hope they still rememer me..

This is really good news. I went ot Myanmar two times as part of my work, each time I had to wait almost a month to get approve foe the visa.

At the same time, this will be good chance to meet more Lao people there. The group of Shan people, they are speaking like us, similar to Tai dam, one of my Burmese colleage, she is Shane person, she spoke to me explain all kind off food in Shan/Lao language ! 


try to seach on youtube (Shan State)...you will see the similarlity of our language.

Don't go to visit Shan people up above Hyay Xai in Myanmar. It is called Shan state because so many Shan people live there. Myanmar army shoot people like dogs, women, children, baby everyone. They have truce for a few years so there is no official war but the soldier can legaly kill or rape Shan people. It's not against the law. Many places under control of Shan people, not government.

Just think, they speak language very close to Lao.
