The Grand opening ceremony for using the Mittaphab Bridge is a great significant event attended by the Heads of the two States of Lao People’s Democratic Republic and Kingdom of Thailand.
The second Mekong Bridge (Savannakhet-Mukdahane) is the one of the main construction of Lao PDR. It plays an important role on development of trade, transport, tourist, integration and provision more convenience connecting Laos-Vietnam-Thailand and ASEAN member countries. It becomes an important part of an East-West Economic corridor (EWEC).
The success of this bridge is not only a pride of Savannakhet people but also an aspiration of entire Lao ethnic people, thus contributing to national economic development in order to reach the party and state’s strategy in graduating the country graduate from the least development status by year 2020.
The Grand opening ceremony for using the bridge will be a great significant event to be attended by the Heads of the two States of Laos and Thailand.
Thong Lahasinh Company together with K&C Co., Lao Art Media Co., and other major companies over 15 groups have been entrusted by the provincial authority under the supervision of government to organize this activity.
Mr. Bounthong Nhotmankhong, Managing Director of Thong Lahasinh Co., recently revealed “I am pleased to be entrusted by the province to organize this important event and I am strongly confident with my experience in hosting the youth’s meeting festival of the 3 countries in 1983. The stadium at the Kilometre 4 will be a place for cultural performance stage and trade fair. The popular singers from three countries: Laos, Thailand and Quangtri province of Vietnam will jointly entertain audience at the event.
At the evening of 20th December which is the opening day for using the bridge, over 1.500 VIP and invited guests will attend the solidarity dinner and the main cultural highlight will be shown on the stage with over 120 artists, depicting the 80 year long evolution of lao textile from past to present. Miss Aphone Lao for 2006 and Miss Lux will participate in this event as well.
Mr. Bounthong Nhotmankhong also informed that the objective of this festivity is to mobilize the people and public society to be aware of new potentials for development after the second Mekong Bridge completion and they would understand on what the government invests for their interests and public in general. It also aims at launching a campaign on potentiality of agricultural products, handicrafts and small industrial investment in order to attract more foreign investors to invest in the years to come. This important event to be held in conjunction with the 31st Founding Anniversary of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.
