I'm from the UK originally but been living in Taiwan for nearly 10 years. I'm teaching English but looking to get into something else, so I've been doing an MA in International and Strategy at a university here. It's time to write the thesis and I'd really appreciate some info from those living and working in Laos. The subject is the effects of different modes of foreign investment/development projects in Laos. I'm interested in three areas in particular: Boten Golden City in the north, the Ban Theun 2 dam, and the projects in the wings and underway in the wetlands near Vientiane. I'd appreciate any info from those working in relevant fields or anyone who's seen the country undergo changes and has something to say. I'll be in Laos from 11th to 25th of Nov and would appreciate your time for an interview. Chinese investment in the country is of real interest to me, and I can speak Chinese. If you are from Laos and have something to say, please also get in touch. In return I can offer advice on how to get around in Taiwan and advice on studying here and scholarships etc.
On a practical note I'm going to have to whip around the pretty country pretty quickly, does anyone know the best way to get up to Boten and down to Nakai from Vientiane?
