Laos Basketball
Permalink

Hello-I am moving over to Vientiane in mid Feb from U.S.. I will be in charge of putting togther Laos' national, u16, u18, jr teams and strenthening the sport for both men and women. I understand a lot of the problems that will be faced in doing so (infrastructure, talent, finances, coaching) and have a lot of ideas. 1 of which is to start Lao basketball clubs for public in various cities and come and do a night at a local restaurant/bar. To have giveaways and have the public meet members of teams and staff.
The ultimate goal is to get Laos basketball into the public eye, have basketball available for young people and adults and eventually our Natl team competing and a team in ASEAN League. I have many players playing D1 bball over here just waiting to come and play in Laos. I have university teams ready to come over next august to play.
If anyone is interested in helping us out in building these basketball clubs and would like to be in charge in their city please let me know. If anyone has any ?s, ideas, concerns please let me know. I am extremely approachable and looking very much forward to moving to Laos and building up Laos Basketball.

Thanks

Coach Will

Thanks so much Wildflower. If I have to get 1 fan at a time i'm going to. I think noone has believed in Laos basketball and I have had teams noone has believed in and yet we always are very good. I've got many college coaches here in U.S. also telling me that they will help get any Lao players over to play at smaller colleges and jucos. So things are very very slowly developing. We also will have a basketball club where foreign people can join and includes shirts, hats, merchandise and newsletter. The $ paid goes directly to our program. This is 1 of the measures I want to install to build a "brand" name.

Hello All-I've been in VTE now for 1 month. I love it here and people are nicest in the world. I start to put together National team for next 2 months w/series of games being played throughout 4 provinces.
We are embarking on biggest schedule in Lao BBall history w/a tournament in Ho Chi Minh, our own Sub Mekong Games (Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia), a friendly and then SEA Games in Nov in Indonesia.
We are in need of help though. If anyone would like to donate to LBF (Lao Basketball Federation) please email me:
swarmwill@live.com
I can furnish a letter stating all funds go directly to LBF and to no other sporting or govt entity. We can use anything that is given.
