I saw chinese farmer growing the rice together with something else, especially corn, water melon ,chili, Mak Thua, Mak Tieng and then sell these in a few month..and i think Lao farmers should do the same. Growing rice and as well as planting others.so..the farmers can increase their income.
growing the rice, don't grow in the low area of the rice field, don't grow a lot, but grow a few and take care of it.. I think it will give you much cultivations..

How long does it take for you bring out the idea?
Lao farmers learned this ages. The problem is, if they grow too much they can not find market, I were in northern of Laos about four years ago, people in Luang Namtha and some parts of Phongsaly, they grew Sugarcane as they were told by Chinese traders. The traders didn't turn up on harvest season. They then put all their sugarcane on the road for the truck to damage them.
The big thing in Vientiane now is the HIGH price of sticky rice, I guss the estimate price of good sticky rice is about LAK 100,000 per 12 kg. I heard govern would interven this, but the price is still high...
to the person who posted the topic, did you ever farming ?
what lao ppl did and do in the villages, as i know, coz i m one of them is always everything more or less. the disadvantage of our lao farming is the knowledge and new technologies. lao farming should evented new science and new tools to help reduce the labor and increase productivities.

If Lao Farmers can work with the U.S. They can sell western fruits and vegetable here in the mid-west or East coast for its fresh organic produce in Laos. Both East and Mid-west U.S would be the best place to sell produce during the Fall and winter season for those quality cheap produce.
Here's some Produce we need to have in the Mid-West and East coast of the U.S
1, Strawberry 2, Cherry 3, peach 4, Berries/Cherry 5, Lettuce/ Green plants and other type of lettuce species <<< "There are millions of American people who are looking for healthy diet and tasty Vegi."
6, Bannanas 7, Onions an such..............
Laos should target quailty market stores that do in need of this during our winter and fall season. Make sure it say "MADE IN LAOS" produce.

no market is bullshiitt...growing more if dont have market anyone can contact me,,,, the problem is...the production is not enough to supply the factories... no supply, no demands.

it seems that you are real farmer.. whats wrong with my post?? yes i saw they did , but just for eating day by day...come on you knew it. I was farmer and i knew it too... growing for eating not for sale.
