I don't think so. I live in America more than 45 years now. Lao nok want Lao people to develop and act like the developed and prosperous countries. We also wish Laos to have good health, good education, good housing and respect Human Rights and religious rights. Lao nok don't like to be brainwashed. We look at laos with kind and sincere heartfelt and want Laos to progress like other developed counstries.

I can assure you that none of the Lao Nauk in the US have been brainwashed by anyone, since I grew up in the US I got so use to the convenience life style here and just simply wanted my birth place to be the same, now does it sound like I was brainwashed?

I met some Laonok who moved to US for more than 20 years and they return to visit Laos, they complain about Laos's market and condition in the Market, they said they can't buy the beef that around with Mieng vanh and the maket was so dirty, how come people stay in such as condition they said.. Hi,,blue commend: I am Laonai, I didnt mean or intentally harming the relationship between Lao and Lao... Pls understand my point that someLao nok are probably brainwashed?? This is a question and need some answers from Laonok on samakomlao...if you or some of you can't give the best answer about that, how come could I and other Laonai believe that.. I can assure you that none of the Lao Nauk in the US have been brainwashed by anyone, since I grew up in the US I got so use to the convenience life style here and just simply wanted my birth place to be the same, now does it sound like I was brainwashed?

I met some Laonok who moved to US for more than 20 years and they return to visit Laos, they complain about Laos's market and condition in the Market, they said they can't buy the beef that around with Mieng vanh and the maket was so dirty, how come people stay in such as condition they said.. I wouldn't mind if that person was Farang or american.. but the word from the mouth of Laotian who was born and grew in Laos and become a Lao-american. thats sad..

I feel the same way too no offense , because after so many yrs a person who have been living away from home with different climate, living condition, & diets he/she will experience the change in their habits , b'cus their body have been adjusted & became so accustomed to the new atmosphere& new diets their body will automatically became foreign to their old one, it doesn't mater who you are that's how a human body works.

I for one have left Laos at a very young age and gone back to visit my relative in Vientiane 5 yrs ago during summer and it was not like I was living in a poor condition or poor diets not that I'm trying to show off or barging. In my uncle's household they eat pretty much similar kind of food I eat in the US like hamburger, raw beef laab, tum maak houng ( papaya salad) , seafood etc.... for some reason I had a very bad diarrhea that lasted 2 weeks, I couldn't hold any thing in when ever I eat , those food just passed right through me, I even have been vaccinated for disease preventions. By law everyone has to be vaccinated before living the country ( USA ) and I still couldn't escape from getting so sick after I got there , it was the first 2 miserable wks for me.

Anyways , after all that I still had alot of fun in Laos & to this day I missed Laos so much. I'm planing to go back and visit again in a year or 2. smile

African Trypanosomiasis	Bartonellosis

What are the reactions of the lungs to dust?

The way the respiratory system responds to inhaled particles depends, to a great extent, on where the particle settles. For example, irritant dust that settles in the nose may lead to rhinitis, an inflammation of the mucous membrane. Particles that evade elimination in the nose or throat tend to settle in the sacs or close to the end of the airways. But if the amount of dust is large, the macrophage system may fail. Dust particles and dust-containing macrophages collect in the lung tissues, causing injury to the lungs.

The amount of dust and the kinds of particles involved influence how serious the lung injury will be. For example, after the macrophages swallow silica particles, they die and give off toxic substances. These substances cause fibrous or scar tissue to form. This tissue is the body's normal way of repairing itself. However, in the case of crystalline silica so much fibrous tissue and scarring form that lung function can be impair. The general name for this condition for fibrous tissue formation and scarring is fibrosis. The particles which cause fibrosis or scarring are called fibrogenic. When fibrosis is caused by crystalline silica, the condition is called silicosis.

What are the factors influencing the effects of dust?

Several factors influence the effects of inhaled particles. Among these are some properties of the particles themselves. Size and heaviness are important because large and heavy particles settle more rapidly. Chemical composition is important because some substances, when in particle form, can destroy the cilia that the lungs use for the removal of particles. Cigarette smoking may alter the ability of the lungs to clear themselves.

What are the diseases of dusty operations?

The classic diseases of "dusty" occupations may be on the decline, but they have not yet disappeared. Workers today still suffer from a variety of illnesses caused by dust they inhale in their work environments. For practical purposes, we limit this document to dust. We do not take into consideration combined effects arising from exposures to dusts, gases, fumes and vapours.

Some types of lung diseases caused by the inhalation of dust are called by the general term "pneumoconiosis." This simply means "dusty lung."

The changes which occur in the lungs vary with the different types of dust. For example, the injury caused by exposure to silica is marked by islands of scar tissue surrounded by normal lung tissue. Because the injured areas are separated from each other by normal tissue, the lungs do not completely lose their elasticity. In contrast, the scar tissue produced following exposure to asbestos, beryllium and cobalt completely covers the surfaces of the deep airways. The lungs become stiff and lose their elasticity.

Not all inhaled particles produce scar tissue. Dusts such as carbon and iron remain within macrophages until they die normally. The released particles are then taken in again by other macrophages. If the amount of dust overwhelms the macrophages, dust particles coat the inner walls of the airways without causing scarring, but only producing mild damage, or maybe none at all.

Some particles dissolve in the bloodstream. The blood then carries the substance around the body where it may affect the brain, kidneys and other organs.

Is what the ads & commercials suppose to do, is to convince , encourage , manipulate and brainwash consumers like you & me into buying their products. It is very command practice not only in the West, but also in many parts of the world including Laos .
