(KPL) The Lao Cement Company has said its ambitious plan of increasing cement production capacity is on track.
The company said this week that it had finished compensating people for the impacts on their properties and livelihood caused by its cement production expansion project. Preparation for construction site for its 3rd factory is under way.
Twenty families have been resettled and compensated about 186 million kip for the damage the company has caused to their agricultural production and 1.2 billion kip for their land property.
The company said its future factory would be built on 44,500 sq m with an investment of US$77 million.
The construction of the new factory is expected to be complete at the end of 2012, according to Secretary of the Cement Producers Group, Mr. Inpone Phatthananoulack.
The future cement factory of the Lao Cement Company would produce one million tonnes of cement annually, which is three times the combined production capacity of its two existing factories, said Mr. Inpone.
He said that the two existing cement factories of the Lao Cement Company produced just over 300,000 tonnes of cement annually.
The other two factories of the Lao Cement Company are in Vangvieng district, Vientiane province.
If the 3rd factory is completed, the domestic demand for cement will be responded, said Mr. Inpone.

and in the future, we will live less than 50 years old.. i don't know why do you like to support the cement factory in Laos, dont you know that, they take away our stone and mountain ???
we are already not very healthy , so if the country is polluted, how do you live? tell me the truth.. mr exporter?
As infrastructure development continues, Lao will need more cement. This is inevitable and necessary. Laos can either produce it domestically or import it from neightboring countries such as Thailland and Vietnam. This is the choice. It is better to produce it in Laos while providing jobs for local people and at the same time purchase technology from abroad so that environmental impact is minimized.
I really don't understand why we want to build cement factories, it pollute the country, the actual factory still has to import composant from thailand to produce it ....and at the end the imported thai cement seems to be cheaper than lao cement with the same quality and quantity and for exporting lao cement , I think it is an unrealistic dream if lao cement don't lower the price of its production.
the first Factory built by Chinese in Mahaxay, Khammuance province, i was shock to see that, there are full of dust in the air around the factory and nearby , people there got sick caused by the bad air and pollution . so we still need more??
The best way is to build the factory away from residential area, in the past in New South Wales of Australia they built this sort of factory right along side railway.
Then the factory will claim that they are away of the raw material resource for the cement production and will increase the cement price by adding the transportation cost and the lao population will bear the extra cost of their home construction... who is the beneficiary ? China ! funny !
In the late industrial age, the term Pollution was common, representing a view that was both critical of industrial Pollution, But likewise accepted a certain degree of Pollution as nominal industrial practic. and Air pollution has always been with us. as the case of Lao-Cement company, In my personal opinion, this company evidently has high levels of pollution associated with inadequate ventilation and lack of clean environment practic. and as for Brotherthakek, you need to speakout and speakup more about the issue because this is your hometown, man.

Thank for reminding me, brother speakout!! I d like to anyone step out and speak up regarding to what the impact of the factory for people . i am worried about there would be many factories owned by chinese in Laos and pollution will become a very serious issue in the near future. so, the govt should prepare and be serious about environmental impact and study the impact.
The best way is to body the branch abroad from reancillaryntial breadth, in the accomplished in New South Wales of Australia they congenital this array of branch appropriate forth ancillary railway.
Pollution ! hell no the United States , Russia , China and India have more cement factories and produce more cement still not pollute their countries . Laos need jobs and money so build more better than the Vietnamese army destroy Lao rain forest and steal Lao 's wood and smuggle in Vietnam.
