(KPL) The Lao government has authorised the Sub-Railway Authority of the Republic of Korea to conduct a feasibility study on a 25-km long railway stretch.
The railway construction will be surveyed from Km 31 on Road No. 13 South to Thongmang, Saythany district, Vientiane Capital.
The signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was held in Vientiane Capital on 28 April.
The signatories to the document were Mr Khamseng Sayakone, Director of the Railway Authority of Laos, Ministry of Public Works and Transport, and Mr Kim Keun Soo, Technical Manager of the Sub-Railway Authority of the Republic of Korea in presence of both sides� officials concerned.
Mr Sonesack Nayansana, Vice-Director of the Railway Authority of Laos, said that the Lao government would also authorise the Sub-Railway Authority of Republic of Korea to conduct a feasibility study on the possible 500-km long railway link between Vientiane, Luang Prabang, and Boten in Luang Namtha province bordering China.
