Monopoly rules!

It doesnt really matter. Laos can produce enough cigarettes for Lao people to consume anyway. There are more 'Yasoop' factories being built in Laos. If you are in Xiengkhouang (sorry I just happened to have worked there recently), you will see tobacco plants being cultivated now to supply to the newly built factory in the area.

i think this is a good idea:

because this will create a higher domestic demand and will decrease the need for import.

creating domestic demand is what our economy needs;

even though it is yasoop not really my thing but hey it will be good for the economy.

yes, right, there's no more royal...and there's no national police department in our country... and the fine amount is in thai baht

Hey read it carefully....

the first line: not allow to bring thai cigarette into ROYAL XXXX means not Laos but Thailand coz thay are the ROYAL of Thailand

and Chiip is right that there is national police department in Laos and ministry of finance is called differently. Lao = Ka suang karn ngern , Thai = Ka susng karn Krung

I think the purpose of the sign is to warn Lao people as well as foreigners not to bring Thai cigarette back to Thailand

that's all

If the sign was made by the Lao authority, it should not be ethically correct -it sounds discriminatory against others'. HOWEVER, the Lao words written in the sign do not seem to be 100% Lao language (There's something wrong with one or two Lao alphabets written in the banning sign!).

I assume that this is a kind of propaganda - IN A LAO PROVERB, they say;

"LOR HAI JOUR (NOVICE/MONK) TEE KAN" = meaning ''trying to set up a bad story for two groups of people to fight against each other''. nonono

I am just wondering who wrote the banning sign! There's something wrong with the spelling of the Lao language as well as meaning.

Usually, today's Lao language does not technically say; "Rah Anajuk" ="the kingdom''. usually the Lao authority do not say "the kingdom of Laos" . This is absolutely wrong!

just reading along the lines, I wonder if its possible that the sign was photo edited prior to posting here?

Bullshi t, man! Who sale at B 540 per Hoh? They only sale at less than B 40. This ad is not true!!! I don't think there is some Ya soop Pohm in Thailand (excepted there is from China)

I will forward this picture to Thai Ya Soop Factory for investigation.

But I read carefully that Its Lao scription but not from Lao. It's from Thai customs as everything meaning in Thai not in Lao. Kohm Suppasahnmith, In Lao we never use the word of Nam Nak Ngahn Tam-roud Haeng Zaad

 I think Thai customs warn Lao people or foreigners who crossing to Thailand not to bring those imitation Thai cigaratte brands into the Kingdom of Thailand and they will charge in Thai Baht. If Lao ban Thai Cihgaratte they should charge in USD or Kip, right?

Anyway, I don't smoke cigaratte but only drink hehehe....

Song   =   1   pack   =   36 ฿ ,      36*15 =   540 ฿

Hor     =  10  packs  = 360 ฿ ,    360*15 = 5400 ฿

It’s not Laos bans Thai cigarettes, but it’s the Thai authority’s warning signboard to Lao people who enter Thailand not to bring in Thai counterfeit cigarettes (probably made in China).

Perfect way to banish all competition. Might be good for the local tobacco industry.
