Nice golf course but let's hope that this is the last one built because Laos need more productive agricultural land more than playground for the rich and powerful.
The Korean is building another 36 holes courses just outside of Luangprabang. It suppose to be 5 stars resort/golf/spa.. I think it should be done sometime next year (2010)
i'm very sceptical about the development of golf courses. On wet season, that's ok, but what about dry season? where will they take the huge amount of water they need to take care the grass.... just for a hobby for rich people?
Don't you think it's more important at dry season to preserve water for ricefields, to feed the population?
Also, as Samakomlao, I hope they don't use that much chemical and fertilizer.
Vietnamese company plan to build a giant golf course just near my father in law's land. of course i'm happy to see this part of the subburbs of Vientiane developing, but i worry a lot about the choises they made: build a private and luxury place, reserved for rich people, and that need so much natural ressources is really the best thing to do to develop the subburbs of Vientiane (500 ha, that's Giant!)???? Does this will benefit to local people or only benefit to rich foreign investors?
Anyway, the place we can see on the photo above is clearly beautifull. i just wonder if it's really responsible/sustainable development way.

A diversion for the bourgeoisie, what happened to socialism? Is this a golf course for "the people"? "The People" can't even afford to buy school uniforms once a year how are they going to buy golf clubs. Food, healthcare, education first, diversions for the bourgeosie later.

only rich ppls play golf as for normal lao ppls, sometimes it provides them some jobs in the club such as taking care the grasses, adminstration work and blabla. however, it is good to have a nice golf course in Laos, i am going to start training the golf and play someday when i m old i guess.
Looks good though..it will bring lot of Korea Golfers to play golf in Lao. But I heard that Korean only Eat Korean Food at Owned by Korean, Stay in Korean Hotel.
Anyway, this will create lots of job for local people
