Remove individual posts which may ruin a good topic.
Permalink Closed

Hi Admin,

Most Internet forums have their forum rules, and it is important to have  them for efficiency in control. An accurate rule is a must.

Today i just want to introduce you a recommendation about your forum rule.

Do you still remember the 'Thai music in Lao society' topic? I think you do. It ,
regarded offensive, was locked by your final decision. In fact, it is a tendency that the focused point you should have dealt with is not locking the thread. Instead, you just remove the individual posts which display excessive confrontation because the topic itself has nothing to do with such individual posts. Apparently, the topic is not inappropriate because there are no any elements of your guideline stating that any topics about Thailand is forbidden; this topic does not violate your guidelines. I am sorry that i talk about this again, but i just talk about it to support my suggestion, and this would worth your while to take this to consider for a next judgment. Another same case to this is the ' Thai language, big influences to Lao society ' topic -- your thread. The topic itself is good but the individual posts which are not fine break the topic. What is a better thing you should have done? Of course, a better thing you should have done is to neutralize the individual posts not closing the thread.

Your webboard is kind of very public one, for it is related to anonymous and there is no PM feature. Just only associating
with anonymous may broaden more problems to control, and of course there is no much alteration that you can do about this unless you can develop and popularize your webboard.

The bottom line is that individual posts that may ruin a good topic should be censored . And this belief tends to be supported by most popular webboards' guidelines.

I am very happy to know what you think about my suggestion.

Sometimes people want to express their feelings and thoughts because in real life you can not say or do as you would like to (or they just had a bad day) and for some reasons they can not or do not want to show their identities (most are anonymous ) I think this is another type of therapy for them even themselves don't even know it,  you just have to let it OUT...

I though Lao just ratified freedom of expression. Why you deleted the topic I posted about that. I tried posting again, I hope you wont delete it because it is good for Lao people to know, a very positive sign that its not only Lao economy is progressing but civil society empowerment as well.

You should be proud of that!

Cheers!

I think people still can have their say or express their opinion without being rude. Say what they think about the topic being discussed rather that just attacking another person by using offensive words.

We need to treat each other with respect. We should respect what others have to say. That's the way it should be.

I think we have discussed about this so many times already.

The bottom line is that individual posts that may ruin a good topic should be censored , and topics which may breach your guildline should be either locked or removed even though its individual posts may have been perfectly fine. And these beliefs tend to be supported by most popular webboards' guidelines.

I agree with you Brother'' enter'' of what you said, But don't forget when you're open your website to the Pulic use . you've to be aware of the Internet law. especially here in the state, if the ''SAMAKOMLAO WEBSITE'' Base in the U.S. they the users can bring you to Court because the website violate their constitution right. and if this website base in Laos or Thailand and they can ban anybody they don't like right.

Yub, that's right. But admins should do that reasonably and unbiasedly, right?I think it's better for them to reasonably focus on their rules than to focus on their personal attitudes, they should be precise and explicit to their guidlines. Do you kno why forums have rules and terms of agreement? It is because they want you to read. When you do something that doesn't follow their rules, the admins can take action against it according to the rules. in addition, you also read and accept their terms of agreement already before you post, so  do they do the right thing? Yes, i think so.

As i said early, an accurate rule is a must. If not, the admin may confront problems in control. That's why i put my suggestion here, And of course the admin can ignore it if he doesn't AGREE on.

Most Lao and Thai forums require your registration;that means you have to sign up before you post. I have been many forums' members. Most are forums that require user's registration. you kno what, i never joint an anonymous-related webboard, except for this webboard.

To all guests,

Some of you always mention about the freedom in speech, a real democratcy in your way. I myself, as the owner of this website, and as the owner of this webboard, have full right to block, to close or to delete the topic that I foreseen will cause problem to some people, or the website in overall.

Hope you all understand this rule.

Regards,
webmaster
