I purchased 2 dvd few weeks ago and they won't send it out after September 1st. I want to have a copy for myself. I can relate to Thavisouk's stories of struggle to adapt and fit in. I actually know a guy in one of the scene in this movie. It was the scene where few of heavy metal guys throwing rocks at the moving train. He is one of my buddy's brothers.

All people who watch this movie, not just Kon Lao, but all race cry when they watch this movie.
Lao government should not allowed this movie to show in Laos. It is against government
That is reality, nobody can change what happened in the past. I think the film maker didnt intent to produce this movie to againts any one, but to reflect what was really happened at that time. It could be precious lesson for you too (if you are Laotian). Please be open.....
this movie was beuatifully made. i sheded tears when i watched this. breaks my heart to know what lao people went through this should have never happend. lao people fighting lao people familys being torn a part for a war we did not want any part of.
hopefully the prophecy has passed where families will get divided and lets not history ever repeat itself again. lao we must come together and never let this happen on our soil again. sooo much pain and it was for no reason.
great great documentry. i hope lao will just get better.

i agree with you. This movie about real life. Everyone should look at this movie to understand the past.
NewYorkMagazin: So how’d did you come up with this idea for Nerakhoon (The Betrayal)?
Ellen Kuras: "This project has been a labor of love. I started making this film as a very young filmmaker-to-be, when I was given a grant to write this story about Laotians I had met in Rochester, New York. In the course of making that film, I ended up moving back down to New York. I wanted to learn to speak Lao so I could speak to the people directly, so a nurse put me in touch with Thavi, and the moment he walked through the door of my apartment, we had this instant. I realized during the course of my lessons with him that I was really more interested in what he had to say than what I was trying to say with this other family in Rochester. I knew I wanted to deal with the political aspects and fall out from the war, and what happens to the people we get to fight our wars for us and then betray and leave behind. This film shows what happens in Thavi’s family over the course of twenty years. The war never really ends."
Thanks so much for sharing. I dont need to buy the DVD after all.... you are such a generous person for sharing this. Its so moving....even for someone who is not Lao because the movie was made such as you can almost feel the character and cant help but emphatize.
Congratulations to all Laotians!
There are so many things to learn from the film... truly a masterpiece.
that was great , thanks so cool. but i wonder did they know the meaning of Laostha song?!!! but overall Thavi is so cool , being the main pillar of the family that his father had made. I hope that they will plot more episode some time
If you plan to buy the "Betrayal" you can buy it now and save 30% instead of waiting until Sept and pay more.I just completed my order online.I also saw the very last part on TV (Chanel PBS) because I didn't it was aired today.I truly hope for your generosity from all of you my fellow Laotians; so please patronize the promotion of this great documentary.
This movie is more about the outcome of war. It doesn't matter who won or loose, but the scars of war lingers on for those who lived through it. This is a movie that all Lao Nok can related too and something all Lao Nai must see.
How come they use the named "Nerakhoon" not "Nelakhoon"?
"R" is Thai language right?
How come they using the name Thavisouk "Phrasavath" instead of "Phasavath"?
Also..The director was directed by Falang not Lao people but they put the name of the writer Thavisouk
It's about poor sad Lao real story. Now everyone know where is Lao already.
Are you an English Gramma corrector?
What I remember in Laos these days we use “R” as well in Lao alphabets, cause new Lao generations are learning English, it helps us to pronounce word correctly when we speak or read English.
We are Laos can’t forget our own heritage. No matter where we live in the World we still are Lao.
Of cause, Good or Bad, Rich or Poor of our country’s condition, we have nothing to be shy about, we are proud to let outside know who we really are, right!
That is the real true story of Thavi’s family
Who ever watches this document film, should honour his legacy, that he allows us to see our country’s history through him and his family’s lives.

You're so right. I love u. I wish each of Lao American & Lao Nia family too owns at least one copy. If you don't love each other, then who will? Come on guys just only $20.00
This is such a fate that awaits those that betray their own Country. May it be a lesson to us all. Thavisouk's father first betrayed his own Country that gave him life and towards the end when he have no Country to betray.....He betrayed his wife and children. Thavisouk's father is a typical Patikan soldout.

I dont know why people classify Lao Nai and Lao Nork? to me it is nonesense, and i dont think it will become the big issue for debating. Anybody tell me the history? By the way, I am people who was born and grew up in Laos, and I am ordering this DVD.... it is worth for my family to see it.

Long time ago, I asked some guy in this forum to give me a good difinition of what is the meanning between Laos Nia and Lai Nork? I was confused and disappointed for calling me a Lao Nork. I thought Loas is Laos . It doesn't matter where you live, but I was wrong. In my opinion,I think Laos Nia is the one who denied to accecpt Laos stands for one not two.

This all depends on your own personal point of view. Who was the real traitor, the Lao of the RLG or the Pathet Lao. Either way, both sides had lost something during and after the war. Men fought war because they had something to fight for. A belief that is worth risking their life for. Both sides had their own belifes on how the country should be run. The fate of Thavisouk's father is not because he betrayed his country or family. This story is not new and doesn't only happened to Lao people. The causaties of war don't end when the last bullet is fire. It lingers on and on..Pointing fingers at who to blame doesn't get any where. If you live in Laos, your main concern is to build your country.

some wounds take time to heal. Prejudice, insults and suspicion can make a wound worst; but forgiveness, love, acceptance and openness will make it heal faster. This forum, as its name imply, should serve as bridge to unite all Lao, regardless of where you are right now. It should not be an instrument to make further divide. All the best for Lao nai and Lao Nork.
