(KPL) casino, located in the heart of the Golden Triangle would open its doors to gamblers in two months time.
The operator, Chinese owned company, Comprehensive Tourism Sites Development Project sited the casino in Tonpheung district, Bokeo province, part of the Golden Triangle, an area with shared borders, Laos, Thailand and Myanmar.Mr Chompheng, Head of Investment Promotion Office of Bokeo province told KPL News yesterday that this Chinese company started to physically develop its allocated area in 2007.
He also said that this project is part of a long-term cooperation between Laos and Chinese company, Don Ngeokham to develop the area by providing facilities for transportation, tourism and recreation, said Mr Chompheng.This Chinese company, he said was given a 40-year lease of 827 hectares for development by the Lao government and it would invest USD$86 million into this area.
Mr Bounxay, Manager of the Comprehensive Tourism Sites Development Project said that the building for the casino had been completed, his staff were carrying out decoration work and the opening deadline would be this coming September.
He said his project was not limited to the operations of the casino but the overall plan was also to build and operate a modern trade centre to facilitate trade, investment and tourism, especially for participation by the four closely linked countries in and around the Golden Triangle, Laos, China, Myanmar and Thailand.

Strange...the article is about a new casino in Bokeo that will be opened only two months later...but the photos show the casino in Boten (Luang Namtha) that has been open for years...you can see the Chinese words for 'Boten' in the banner.
You are right, Ive been in the Casino at Luangnamtha and the photos shown here are exactly the same, even the alley with closed shops. I dont think those were taken in Bokeo.
Please educated Lao people and prepare a professinal counsiling for Lao people soon before it is too late because gambling is the dideases like cancer that will destroy Lao people , family and friend and honor. Lao people are suffering enough now the casinos , corruption and drugs wow...what 's next that the Chinese master will bring into Laos. Toxic waste from China to dum in Laos . what the Chinese give and build for Laos but it is worst of what they have done to Laos (destroy the rain forest , building casinos , immigrant million of Chinese into Laos , building dam that flood a lot of good farm land , polluted the evorement , Mekong from mines....so on...
Like it or not Laos will be the capital of gambling in southeast Asia.

Tax money that is good enough . Laotian don't need to work in the Chinese casinos. The Chinese will not hire Laotian to be any thing if they hire Laotian but maid and service people.

Tax money from the Casinos are good but the laocal Laotian never see those money.
