Airbus has officially delivered its first Chinese-made plane.
The aircraft, one of the firm's A320 mid-range models, was unveiled at a ceremony at the firm's factory outside the northern Chinese city of Tianjin.
The plane has been delivered to leasing firm Dragon Aviation, and will be used by Chinese carrier Sichuan Airlines.
BBC Beijing correspondent Quentin Sommerville said Airbus hopes its Chinese factory will give it a big advantage over US rival Boeing.
While Boeing makes components in China, Airbus is the first of the world's big-two aircraft-makers to have a full production facility in the country, as it aims to meet fast-growing Chinese demand for commercial aircraft.
The Airbus A320 in question will be used by Sichuan Airlines
i dont think its the problem about buying a air bus i bet laos has plenty of money to buy even 2 but the demand is so low so cost of keeping it would probably be more then buying it.
we just have to wait until the demands gets high enough then it would make sense to buy a large boeing airplanes.
This is old topic man..... go back and re-read this same topic... I don't think Laos can afford to buy one or two, although they did lease couple of Airbus from France back in 2005. Those Airbus was in operation for less than a year, they had to return it back to France.
How many % of Lao people of 6 Millions population travel by air?
A : 1.0% B : 0.5% C : 2.9%
Most of the people who using air travel is foreign tourists and business men
General Lao can't effort to pay for the tickets.
I think we should invest on Land travel as our country is not a big size. Build a good standard roads and railways
good point good point my lao brother. a country like laos which is smaller compared to most countries do not need air bus for domestic use. good raods and perhaps a train that runs from north to south would be great for travel and transportation of goods. air bus would only cator to tourists n foriegn business people. i like your comment bro i feel the same way if there could only be such infrastructure laos would prosper at af aster rate so i thnk they should focus less on air travel right now and more on land travel.
Let's see how is AIRBUS made in China. It will be the same as some cheap electronic goods made in China or not? haha...
Made in China.... Oh my God!!! If I will board that plane, I may be praying hard for safety from the time it takes off until the time it lands.... if it will ever land at all.
I bought a Dell computer, parts from the US assembled in China, after 3 weeks one key of the keyboard was stuck.
When I went to Laos I have to buy one more luggage coz I have accumulated so many souvenirs from my trips in the provinces so I bought one in the Chinese store, when I arrived at the airport in my home country and collected my check-in luggages, the ribs of that luggage were broken and sticking out.
I bought some "original" havianas flip flops made in China because they're so cute... but not cheap, only to discover that they are being pulled out from the market because China used lead in the paint.
I bought my son an "original" transformers toy (not cheap either). He only played for 30 minutes and one of the legs was broken when it accidentally fell from the table.
sorry my friend who said laos can not buy AIRBUS ? If three AMIGO kaisone phomvihan wife and khamtai sithandone and general JIANG put money together not only AIRBUS they can buy AIRBUS 380 easely but they keep for themselve ,population in laos we have only 6 million so no need AIRBUS 380 use a liitle one ok
Hay !! Man The Lao airline have stratgy to buy new air plan not only Airbus but it may be other moden aircraf but now the lao airline just send more than 20 person for pilot training in Franch and USA. Is not lao don't have money but is not time yet .
When Headline mention that China firm will delivered the midside model A320 Airbus, People seem to jump to conclusion that Lao's government gonna buy Boeing747 or A380 double-deck Airbus, C'on guys. It's just only A320, almost same side as the one they're flying right now. and I also like to mention that " China do not build a whole Airplane". They the chinese only build the body-flame-work and do some wiring tru-out the Plane that's all. and most of the commercial Airlines bought from the West like Boing,Airbus European, so let' get back to A320 model. these planes they suplied engine by either Boeing,Airbus base in Europ, or by United technology(PW) base in Connecticut, the Chinese do not have the ability to build the engines. not yet. anybody remember that 1-2 yrs ago Lao's government bought the planes from China. these planes were using the engines that made by American company that base in Longuer,CANADA CALLED (PRATT-CANADA). How do I know that? Because I personally make a business trip up north one every two month and knew a person who actually work there for a long times, now come the Question Can our country afford it?? Yes probbably, they both Chinese and Lao know how to get arround with each other. and I believe this is the time to upgrade our Aviation and Transportation plus highway system, the event coming up in December....
I've read the News the other day, somebody post the News about the New-Arport in Laos. and i saw someone post the picture of lao-airplan, That is Airbus a320...from China right... and i though, it' already in Services.. what is going on now??

No, they leased that airplane. They had since returned that plane back to the leasing company due to high maintenance fee. Lao Airlines didn't know they have to pay when plane broke down. I heard they had to have engine rebuild after it stuck a bird, don't know that's true or not, but i read somewhere online.
Bro Speak-out for the first time I can read something nice on our motherland. Good start ! my2cent
