The government has agreed to waive visa fees for elderly and young foreigners entering the country, as part of efforts to promote tourism. The Ministry of Finance`s Taxation Department Director general, Ms Manivone Insisiengmay, said the waiver would apply to foreigners aged over 65 and under 15 Immigration Department officials said they were already providing free visa extensions to people aged over 65 in accordance with the new decree. But the department will continue to fine those who do not extend their visa, at the rate of US $ 2 a day.
Smart, more money pour into Laos from Lao-Oversea. Why did they do this 10 years ago? If Lao Government accept no Visa from Lao-Oversea, they even make more money them.

your comment looks like the big company's policies. e.g. they can not pay a small amount for services if needed, but they will pay 5 times more money for the same services.
as i know, the visa cost about $50-60 (laos is developing country, she needs money from whatever legal way to collect). why is that too big deal when you can effort to go back home ? when i came to visit USA (very rich country on earth) they got me $400 for the visa fee and i never see any one complain !?
