Just give me some time because I am working on it and almost finish. I did not understand many Laotian Vocabularies so I had to call my aunt and asked her to explain to me in Lao language but she too understood partially. This is for sure a lot work man. pv1laughw.gif

Dear Web Master,

It would be easier for me to just make corrections after it was already translated because I don’t know big words in Laotian language.  So if you can explain them to me either in Lao or English, I would have some idea then I can correct them. I hope my translation below would save you some time.

Thank you. pv1laughw.gif

The Designation of the Lao-ITECC Market as a Place to Organize and Manage SEA GAME Competition:

The Lao International ITECC Market had become one of many other venues recommended by the committee in preparation for the 25th SEA GAME and 3 sports events will take place here: Sepak Takraw, (ປັນຈະສີລັດ?) and Wushu

Mr. Sourivong ຫຍຸຍວານິຊວົງ, the president of the Company Lao ເວີນ Ltd had confirmed during an interview that the International Lao ITECC Market was constructed in the year 2003 and completed in February, 2004 for the sole purpose of the Asia Convention in which Lao PDR with great honor as the host country had actually conducted the 10th ASEAN Summit in September, 2004 and other world class convention thereafter. Moreover, The Lao ITECC Market was also served as central gathering for various national commodity exposures from agriculture products, plantation produce to other merchandise, ສິນຄ້າກະສິກຳ-ອຸດສາຫະກຳ-ຫັດຖະກຳ ແລະ. ເຄື່ອງອຸປະໂພກ-ບໍລິໂພກອື່ນໆ. The ITECC Market is also perfect for a wedding celebration because of it maximum capacity of up to 2000; there are many retail shops inside including billiards, snookers and a 32 lane-drive-ins movie theater.

A semimonthly show of national commodity has attracted merchandisers and speculators from Thailand and Vietnam and their participation at the Lao ITECC Market was due to easy access to parking space and other conveniences.

In a specific reference to the 25th SEA GAME, the Lao ITECC was honorably designated to host 3 different sporting events as mentioned above. The Sepak Takraw, and Wushu will be competing at the larger venue on the 1st floor and the ປັນຈະສີລັດ will be on the 2nd floor.

The construction management and inspection committee for the SEA GAME positively asserted that all the work of remodeling and other necessary repairing of the facilities will be completed by the end of ພະຈິກ; primarily the work on the enhancement of light to receive maximum illumination and to increase the current capacity up to a 1000 seats for the audience. Thanks to the courtesy of Lao ITECC Market for its sponsorship and its continued patronizing the state by allowing the use of its facility for free. The committee would only be liable for the use of electricity and the cost of sanitation as a result. In a sign of expression of gratitude and appreciation, the state had authorized the Lao ITECC Market to further promote its business by conducting a show of its commercial products at the transportation department which would allow spectators the opportunity to purchase its commodity on their way home.

Aside from assisting to organize the SEA GAME Sports Competition, the company of Lao ເວີນ Ltd, is honored to the given opportunity to serve all athletics(approximately 3000 – 4000) breakfast, lunch and dinner at their designated residence. Mr. Sourivong had further stated his reaffirmation of the utmost obligatory duty of the central government in providing security during this important event and the dispatch of National Guard from the security department would be 100% as effective as that provided in the last world class convention which was also taken place here.

In addition, the Lao ??? Ltd., is also honored to serve the breakfast, lunch and dinner of the estimated 3000-4000 athletes at their designated residence. Hope I don't offend anyone...
Some modifications to Boy in VT's translation:
___________

Lao-ITECC will be one of the venues for the 25th SEA Games, the first grandiose regional event ever to take place on Laotian soil. The 25th SEA Games organising committee has selected this shopping centre to be the competition venue for three sports, namely Sepak Takraw, Pencak Silat and Wushu (Chinese martial arts), during the 25th SEA Games to be held in Laos in December 2009.

Mr. Souliyong Youivanivong, General Manager of Lao World Co. Ltd. stated that construction of the ITECC started in 2003 and was completed in 2004, with the purpose of serving as the main venue for hosting ASEAN-related meetings in February 2004, the 10th ASEAN Summit in November 2004, and other international meetings that Laos has had the privilege of hosting. Besides this, trade exhibitions displaying agricultural, industrial and handicraft products and consumer goods have also been held here, as well as receptions (what receptions?) and wedding receptions. The ITECC can accomodate up to  2000 guests. It also has a 32-lane bowling centre, two cineplexes and snooker halls. Due to its easy access and convenient facilities, particularly its large parking lot, the ITECC holds trade exhibitions twice a month showcasing local products as well as products from neighboring countries such as Vietnam and Thailand.

During the 25th SEA Games, the ITECC has been designated as the competition venue for the three sports mentioned above. Sepak Takraw and Wushu will take place in the main hall of ITECC and Pencak Silat will take place at the reception hall on the second floor. In late November  ahead of the Games, the 25th SEA Games organising committee will conduct improvement works such as installation of lighting and seats to accommodate 1000 spectators.

In order to contribute to the success in hosting the Games, ITECC will charge no rental fees and kindly help pay for electricity and cleaning services. During the Games, ITECC will allow exhibitions to be held in its parking lot so that spectators will be able to buy things (what things? souvenirs?) home. Moreover, Lao World Co. Ltd. has also gained the privilege of providing breakfast, lunch and dinner for approximately 3000 to 4000 Laotian and foreign athletes at the Athletes Residences located in the National University of Laos.

Mr. Souliyong futher stated  that a subcomittee for Public Security will be responsible for security-related matters during the Games and will conduct in-place security commands to ensure 100% security of the same standard that Laos has previously provided when hosting international events.

___________

Have underlined the parts that I'm not clear about (I can barely read Lao because I'm not Lao).

Sepak Takraw and Pencak (pronounced as bpoen-jak) Silat (Malay martial arts) are the Malay language spellings and also the official/internationally recognised spellings of the names of those sports.

'SEA' has to be written all in capital letters as it is the acronym for Southeast Asia(n).

Having said that, Boy in VT writes better than many of the graduates I've met from Lao-American College, RBAC & NUOL's English department...

Boy in VT did a very good translation. I hope you were there when I was needing a translator.

No offense, just want to share some suggestions related to fourpaw's improved version.

* You can safely write "wedding receptions" straight away. It gives the idea already.

* "things" can be replaced with "products to take home" as not all products for sale can be considered as souvenir (ex. pastries, delicacies)

* Does the last underlined phrase means "...implement in-house security measures to ensure 100% security standard similar to that Laos has previously provided.... "?

Thanks!
