(KPL) Khammouane province has granted 100 ha land concession to a Malaysian investor to grow cassava in the province. An agreement on the land concession was signed in Khammouane on 30 March by Deputy Head of Land Management Authority of Khammouane, Mr. Phouvieng Khanthavong and President of Best Time Planting Agriculture Company, Mr. Fung Ming. According to the agreement the land concession, the Malaysian business is allowed to plant their crops in Ban Nateuan Jai and Ban Phahine in Yommalath district, Khammouane province.
The agreement also says that the investor has to pay annually six US dollars for every hectare it hires. The company said that it would start to clear land for planting in the next two months. Mr. Fung Ming said that the cassava produce would be exported. Meanwhile, Vice President of Best Time Planting Agriculture Company, Mr. Sivongsay Laolee said that the company planned to extend its farmland up to 2,000 ha in few years.
