April 9th, (from Left to Right) Toshiro(Japanese), Roberta(Brazilian), Alessandro(Italian), another Italian and Czech girls, Lek(Thai), and Robert(Swiss, not in the picture here 'cos he's the one who's taking it.) bring a couple of heavy duty bags to the beach of Mueng Ngoy, commited to pick up every piece of plastic trash from there.
as the villagers take bath and swim and do their laundry and fix their boats, we attach the beach full of trash. In Southeast Asia where industrial growth is ever-booming, people don't seem aware of the level of their polution. They are also new to the concept of plastic, where it was no problem before to throw banana leaves and bamboo containers into the nature.
some farangs join us. as for the local villagers, there are only two young kids who help us picking up some trash, while older kids and adults just sit and watch us in curious eyes.
in a few hours, two large bags are filled heavy with plastic, rubber, glass of all sorts. we hope this is right thing to do, but we never really know what the villagers think of this.
This is a good lesson which we have to learn from tourism, I saw many trash along the road 13th, many lao passengers threw the trash from the bus. so sad to see all the pastic bag on the greenland of LAOS.
