Vietnam is willing to help Laos successfully host the region’s largest sports event in December, said Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem.
While receiving the visiting Laos Minister of Information and Culture, Munkeo Olabun, in Hanoi on March 5, Mr Khiem shared Vietnam’s experience in organising the 22nd SEA Games in 2003, saying that one of the most important things is to ensure both security and food hygiene safety.
In addition, he said special attention must also be paid to information and communication activities.
Minister Olabun thanked Vietnam’s assistance to Laos in the fields of information and culture, as well as the physical support and television personnel training.
He expressed his hope that Vietnam will continue to help Laos make the upcoming SEA Games a success.
At present, a sports centre is being built in Laos using Vietnam’s official development assistance (ODA). About 60 percent of the work volume has been completed.
