you guys may read about Lao people and ai Lao, before Laoloum was settledown Yunnan province china and chinese called us " ai Lao"  , I read some reseach about ai Lao culture and the king dom of ai Lao in chinese, they translated ai Lao as  Jiu, which mean LaoLao  in Lao ( whisky), Ai lao people means  " a good whisky people" so i think that it 's probably correct, because we can see that Lao people love Lao Lao very much and when lao people meet each other wherever we have to drink Laolao or beer to celebrate,  what u guys think?
