I just can’t fathom what could be so wrong when someone expresses his or her concern of the motherland. Many Laotians living oversea do have families and friends back home and most of them left Laos when they were already in their 20s, 30s, so we can’t simply dismiss the bonds that were naturally established with their own hometowns. It’s like taking way our bonds with our parents that would be impossible.
They are ethnic Laotian from Laos regardless of their current residence. The recent concession of our territory to the Chinese has caused rational anxiety to certain degree for some of us Laotians at home and abroad.Only time will tell if the gain would outweigh the loss, and we should all hope for the best.
I am more empathetic toward the government because I don’t think they have much choice since Laos is quite poor economically and quite weak technologically, but the desire for a national pride takes precedence above all.I take it with the great joy learning that Laos for once, gets to host the “ASEAN GAME” but I wouldn’t say that I am so proud of it like the Chinese were proud of their Olympics.
It is unfortunate reality that the prospect of this event cannot come about without donations from the international community regardless of how we perceive it but nonetheless, it is a blessing for our motherland and please refrains from a constant criticism. Too much negativity will never be counterproductive.
I strongly believe the fortification of relations between Laos and the People’s Republic of China is deemed necessary to balance out the lopsided influence of Vietnam.Furthermore, our comprehensive national power requires stability and without economy, it would be a hard press to achieve this. State to state relation is give and take; Laotian governments negotiate from a weak position; therefore, it’s not uncommon to have some strings attached for any concessions from our Chinese counterparts, but what do you expect the government to do?
Everyone wants development in Laos but how can that be possible if no one wants to give or compromise. It’s heartbreaking to see the pictures of dilapidated Vientiane identical to rural areas in the West.I think the governments are susceptible to its image as their contacts with outside world take them to different levels.
This includes the confluence of the frequent visits from foreign leaders, the cultural exchanges with other countries, the exposure of our people to the more developing nations and the desire to substantiate its one party -legitimacy cannot be ruled out. By granting the Chinese 50 years, the right to use the land (if it’s true as claimed) may sound like an excessive sacrifice, but based on a modern-day technicality, is just simply untrue.Similar deals are being applied in Latin America and in Africa by the Chinese.
There are some Anti-China and Pro-China in Africa. For example, the claims of exploitation of the locals, the mistreatment of laborers, the lack of proper equipments and the working conditions are below substandard. But from the Pro-China, they would state differently otherwise; relationship between China and Africa is based on mutual interest, equal trading system, produce the win-win outcome and as a result, the overall living standard of Africans has improved immensely since the arrival of Chinese influence. The relationship between Europe and Africa, some claimed is based on the Master-Servant system.
Base on my limited knowledge, Laos is moving in the right direction. It is ok sometime to swallow the pride for the betterment of the country and for the future of our posterity. We shall rejoice the advent of this great moment and fully support our athletes, our governments. It is a common wish among our people and a milestone consensus for majority of us Laotians.
Well said!!! If I ever need to give a speech, can I hire to write me a speech? For me to write something like that will takes a month. LOL Keep up the good work and keep it coming.
It’s like taking way our bonds with our parents that would be impossible. I don't understand these two phrase.Too much negativity will never be counterproductive.
Too much eloquent writing ruin the good intention and confuse the readers.
I believe that all of the words coming from the bottom most of your hearts. It is true that many people here are very prejudice and hostility. I guess they just want to raise the points that people may look over it. As for me, I want to learn to see things, not just only inside, but also outside. This help to widen my perspectives and to help me learn critical thinking and how to deal with people from different backgrounds.
To me it was rubbish. The gist of the above mentioned blabla topic is just to discredit Lao government and Lao people.
I hate it when people pretend to have a good intention to Laos, but try to discredit Lao people. Plus, they say they are proud to be American. They try to look down on Lao people as "khon Barn Nork", as poor farmers and so on. They try to look down on Lao people and Lao government as stupid, having no brains. What they want to say here is Lao Nork people are more educated and clever. However, as a matter of fact, they are just slavers or second sort people in that society.
In fact, if they know a reality in Laos, they would stop and shut up their mouths. They just consume western bias media.
Yes, let it be. The more they look down on us, the more will hate them, no doubt.
Same old S**T again BruceNon Laoman ! You're always bringing up some bulls**T to stir up the mud. What is your intention? Just want some attention? You sure wouldn't get from me.
Just like the other comment said: It was rubbish !
I thought you support the government of Laos PDR. Why are they hating you. I should be the only one that is getting all the hate.
From this statement, I understand that Lao American people would be nice with the only people who do not support Lao government. I feel uncomfortable to make a comment further. Nevertheless, I will do it.
What is wrong with people who support their own government. To some extend, I understand that Lan_xang and his friends, as well as some Lao American people who try to descredit Lao people, Lao government, has shown their true color.
It makes me think that only Lao government enemies would like to make friend with people who do not support Lao government. Fornately, there are no such people in Laos as we think now is 21 century, the century of peace. Life is too short to stay in confrontation.
Our life is most expensive and is not worth to die for someone as mentioned by Mr. My 2cents in another topic. Acording to him, someone in USA wants to come back to Laos to be a big boss that's why they (these bad people) try and try to discredit Lao government.
However, I am fraid they would have to wait until their next next life.

I don't know about others. Don't group me with them. I only know myself.
As far as I know, Bruce like Chinese. He support Laos government.
As for me I never hide. Everyone know where I stand on this issue. So you can not say I am now just showing my true color.
I've been this way since I came to this forum. I am just less critical now. I am not hiding and I am not denying of who I am.
I have no friend(s) here nor I need or want friend(s). I disagree with people. I even disagree with what Bruce and LaosPeopleArmy. These guys are not my friends or my enemies. I do not agree with them but I respect their thought and views. I don't attack them (the individual), instead I attack the issue(s) of the discussion. You can not say the came.
You attack the person instead of the issue because you can not see the difference.

TSP,
You can not banned Lan Xang. He did not criticized government since he got the first yellow card. What you guys been talking about is a WHAT IF. Everyone gave their thought on WHAT IF. LanXang did not say any bad about Laos PDR government. So why did you banned him?
BruceLaoMen,you are so brilliant . Personally, I think you are the best writter in this forum. Since I started reading your topics,my thinking and my knowledge have been improving tremedously. Your eloquent words have driven me to aim higher. You used to insult my grammatical errors sharply, but I take your crititism in the possitive way. I know you have good intention. In addition to this, your encouragements make me want to challenge more. One day, I will become a sucessful writter as you are. In the mean time,my brain cerebellum cells still ionized malfuctional. Pardon me if I still write English incorrectly. I try o.k. Hopefully, my nuclei start produce fast enough to catch up with your abilities. Anyway, thank you very much for speaking our for me as Laotian American, you are my icon. Khob jai lai lai der Ai BruceLaoMan! Merry Christmas and Have a happy New Year! On December 31,2008,I know for sure approximately five hundred Laos American fans will celebrate New Year in the club with two Laotian singers from our Motherland. I'm looking forward to have fun. Of course drinks! Anyway, they are great singers. You are more than welcome to join us. Love!
P.S. Lan Xang can write good too. But you the best.
I thought you support the government of Laos PDR. Why are they hating you. I should be the only one that is getting all the hate.
LanXang brother, we work for our money.Nobody pays us to post anything to please anyone.I just stated my thoughts, sharing my opinion and it’s an honor having someone like you read it. If you have any disagreement with me, please feel free to reply it. We are reasonable enough to understand each other and others too have the right to reply because this is a public forum.
I also respect your point of view because you do have a good reason to expression your concern about our motherland and I have no problem with that.Yes, I am proud to be Laotian American. That’s why I still live here. There is no law in the United States prohibiting me from leaving the country.Ironically, thousands of people would do whatever it takes to get here.America is my country residence, a country where I make my living and a country to which I swear my allegiance. This won’t change unless I establish my residency and become a citizen of another country.
As far as my moral support for the ASEAN games and my empathy toward the Laotian government in strengthening state to state relations with China, remain unchanged at this time and I already stated my reasons. Therefore, I won’t repeat them again.
My personal view on the Chinese has always been a mixture of positive and negative and I will post them another time.I admire their struggle and envy their success. I despise Mao Ze Dong and his gang of four, but I greatly respect Deng Xiaoping for his determination.I agree that he was a man of vision.

Oh! You might misundertand about that. Why should I ban Lanxang from this forum. I have no such a right. I am not the webmaster either. I am also a visitor
The fact that I posted my comment here was just to communicate mainly with my friends, students and Lao young generation in Laos and abroad. I have no any negative intention to any people visiting this website.
Yes, everyone has right to express his or her opinion. I also have the right, I guess, although I am a citizen of Lao PDR.
As regard to this topic, I would like to inform you that we Lao people are proud of being Laotian no matter of the fact that our country is poor or anything else.
Yes, we all Lao people accept that not all our government officials are perfect. Good and bad people are everywhere. The most important thing is we try to improve ourselves, by critizing each other. Our government is always appreciate and listen to all opinions of Lao people, but true though, not to bad people who try to destroy Laos.

Having look at the style of writing, I feel this person's style and Bruce's atyle are the same, with no paragraph. I just wonder how he could learn from Bruce so well. Or could be the case Bruce helped him to write this statement. That is the case I have no word anymore
By the way, I am glad that Lao-Americans are still helping each other, even in English writing.

Hey, I am glad to hear that you have the intended goal and now it’s up to you to pursue it to the end. I don’t recall insulting you or your English grammar. Please excuse my ignorance if that was true. I know you can do better; it’s just a matter of time and I can already tell that you are resolute and persevered so just keep your motivation dynamically active eventually it will reward you and Merry Christmas to you too. By the way, don’t liquor up too much. You know alcohol can bring lots trouble if it gets you out of control.
How nice to have Laotian singers coming from our motherland and I am sure it would be an all-night longentertainment. There is no need to pay Thai singers anymore since we can bring our own; after all, what can be so wrong in patronizing our own people right? Moreover, our Lao entertainers possess a natural ability to sing in Thail language as weel. Bye for now.
Thank you for responding me back, you are so polite and very understandable person. I promise I will not consume the liquor to exceed the limit; but I will celebrate and enjoy the spectacular night with all of my beloved friends. Muchas gracias! Adios amigo! Have a Happy New Year!

Half of Laos belongs to Viet. and Chin. Why are we still fighting each other? Is it to late who is Laos Nai or Laos Nork? Our country belongs to Viet. and Chin.
I am a Laotian but my uncle is Chinese. He told me my Chinese leader will cut me off from the family if I hang out with Laos people. This is very funny our brothers so addicted to poison each other.
