Vietnamese business invests in rubber plantation in Attapeu

(KPL) The government has granted a license to Vietnamese Hoang Anh-Gia Lai Group to plant rubber trees on 10,000 ha in Attapeu.

Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Thongmy Phomvixay and president of the company, Mr. Doan Nguyen Duc, signed the agreement on the investment last Thursday.

The new rubber plantation project is expected to create 3,800 jobs for local people with an average income of between 150 and 170 USD per month.

Hoang Anh-Gia Lai Group has planted rubbers on 5,000 ha in Lao since 2005 and plans to build two rubber-processing factories with a capacity of 40,000 tones per year in Attapeu province by 2012. The group has also provided hundreds of thousand US dollars to assist local community in building schools, clinics, roads and electric transmission lines.

Mr Doan Nguyen Duc said the government’s decision to give his company investment permission was due to the company’s commitment to helping local communities overcome their poverty.

He said his prior investment provided more than 500 jobs, with plantation workers able to earn up to about 1.5 million kip a month. Local people also benefited from roads and other infrastructure developed with the investment of his company.In addition to investment in rubber plantation, Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group also eyes on investment opportunities in infrastructure construction, tourism and mining.

Phongsaly rubber planters upgrade technical term in China


(KPL) Rubber tree growers in Phongsaly province left for La district of China to exchange lesson on rubber tree plantation last week.
The technical officials and local rubber tree growers of Hadsa group consists of 13 villages led by Vice Chief of Phongsaly district, Phongsaly province, Mr. Lekdouangkay Somphakhoun.


The exchange lesson was to implement the contract regarding the Rubber Tree Plantation Investment Project along the Nam Ou River which was under the authority of Hadsa village, Phongsaly district.

The contract was signed by Phongsaly province and the Xui Yongei Company of China two years ago with the aim of upgrading technical term for rubber tree plantation to Lao officials and growers.

Two sides shared views on rubber tree plantation between two sides and the Lao technical officials and growers had a chance to learn theory on rubber tree plantation, how to plant, maintain and produce rubber.

These two neighboring countries don't want to ruin their own environment so they move their rubber plantations to Laos. They are very smart. And Laos doesn't realize the consequences of rubber plantations to the soil.
