No, the Chinese call it Sichuang Banna, not Sipsong Panna.
What does "Sichuang" and "Banna" mean? I am not sure what "Sischuang" mean but I think "Banna" mean Ban Na (Ricefield Village).
I really think the area is call "Sipsonpan" = 12,000 and "Na" = rice field. So the real name of the area is "12,000 Ricefield". Just as "Lan Xang" = 1 Million Elephant and a dynasty once call "Lan Na" = 1 Million Ricefield.
