What do you think is the coolest job in Laos and why?
For me, I think being a businessman is the coolest one and get a lot of money.
What would you say about that ?
Coolest job for me would be a job that contribute to helping building Laos. Doctors or Engineers would be the top of it. These are jobs that you will see the impact right away.
I say workin at the airport doing translation for people would be pretti tight! get to meet new people, or either that open a liquor store or a Jewelry store...
Anything is good when you have passion for what you like to do, but it must be feasible econically for yourself unless you are rich already.

i already figured that you dont get paid squat over in laos. it would be more of a hobby after i retire or something. and archaeologists don't just dig holes and live in huts. "Archaeology, is the science that studies human cultures through the recovery, documentation, analysis, and interpretation of material remains and environmental data, including architecture, artifacts, features, biofacts, and landscapes. Because archaeology's aim is to understand mankind, it is a humanistic endeavor." what do real estate investors do. sell houses all day long? how exciting and original.

In Laos, you will be. You will be digging and researching for archaeological findings. It is pain taking to do and you must be patient with your work. 75-80% of your work will be ground diggings and looking for clues of what you are looking for. You will either have to stay in a tent or a hut to do your research. We are talking about a job, not a hobby.
As for me, I am a real estate investor not a real estate agent. I buy apartments and multi units, collect rents money and invest more on bigger properties. It's exciting when you are making money and also learn new things all the time. I have my property managers who take cares everything. That's what I call being your own boss.

you mean public servants, you probably wrong, because, some place is quite hard to get in, you need to take serious test about your knowlegde and highly competiive and or even you can get it, you still need to have patience and be honest to your job too...
