(KPL) National Committee for AIDS/HIV Prevention has said 873 out of 2,858 HIV/AIDS patients have died of AIDS since 1990.
In its latest report the committee says that up to now, almost 175,000 people have had blood test for HIV and 2,858 of them have been tested positive and 1,837 proved having AIDS.
The report was released here last Thursday at a nationwide meeting of the National Committee for HIV/AIDS Prevention under the chairmanship of Dr Bounkouang Phichith, Deputy Minister of Public Health and President of National Committee for HIV/AIDS Prevention.
The participants also reviewed the implementation of HIV/AIDS prevention activities in the past two years, which mostly focus on health education for sex workers and condom use promotion for general public.
Let's hope and pray that Laos doesn't turn out to be like our neighbor Thailand. To all my laotian brothers and sisters out there, please practice SAFE sex!!!!!

Are you saying that... "Buk Dum likes to go back to Laos and sleep with sao dek noi??" The government should start sending strong message, if you get caught with sleeping with prositute and you will be serving time in jail. I totally agree with you that the government should do more.
