(KPL) Police detained a woman who had tricked people into believing that she was a valid broker for entry to educational institutes here and asked for advance money. She has been in detention since June in the Criminal Police Station of Chanthaboury district, Vientiane Capital.
Mrs Khamphone, 42, a resident of Nongduan village, Sikhottabong district, Vientiane Capital was accused of tricking people to pay her 155 million kip . This was said by Mr Savanphouvieng Phimphavong, Acting Head of Security Force Headquarter of Chanthaboury district on 3 September.
In 2005 she was arrested for collecting money from people on the grounds that she would be able to get them enrolled in institutes of higher studies here. She managed to get 70 people to pay one million kip each.
For this case, the District Court sentenced her to jail for two and half years and imposed a fine of 180 million kip. She was released after being in jail for three months and she began to look for money to clear this civil case. She carried out the same criminal act as she done in the past and she was rearrested.
Mr Savanhphouvieng told all the Lao people that they should not believe in such promises and added that if anyone comes across such people they should contact the police.
