(KPL) The government of India awards every year approximately 100 scholarships to Lao nationals, 14 of which are for university education and research work and over 80 for specialised professional training in Indian institutes, according to a press release of the Indian Embassy here on 18 August.

26 more Lao nationals have been selected to undergo specialised training in India at its premium institutions such as Aptech, the National Institute for Research & Development, the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, the National Institute of Micro Small & Medium Enterprises, the English and Foreign Languages University, the CMC Ltd., and Shriram Institute of Business and Information Technology, for courses in Advanced Networking, Multimedia and Web Design Technology, English Language in Business Communication, Total Quality Management, Intermediate and Advanced English, IT Skills and English Fluency, Graphic Designing & Communication, and Sensors Technology for Automation under ITEC Programme.

Other seven Lao nationals are leaving for post-graduate courses in international business, business administration, computer science, geography and English under the Mekong-Ganga Cooperation Scholarships Scheme and the General Cultural Scholarships Scheme, in the premier Indian institutes.

The students successfully underwent the rigorous selection procedure. There is a greater realisation among Lao students of the need to acquire the best skills and techniques available in premier Indian institutes. The students on their return, plan to utilise their knowledge and skills so acquired to the maximum benefit of their respective organisations back home. These courses are very important to them for it will increase their performances both quantity wise and quality wise.

They all realise the advantages that would accrue to the society through application of good and efficient management of resources, as also the need of capacity building and self-sustaining human-resource development in all sectors.
Prior to their departure to India, the selected students met the Indian Ambassador who congratulated all of them on their achievements and wished all of them success in their studies and training. They were all full of enthusiasm and confident that their studies and training in India will further boost their capabilities push the nation forward.

Wow. That is very generous of the Indian government. It would be a lot of help to deserving, intelligent Lao youth.
