July 5, 2008. Lao Esarn from Srisaket, Ubon, Udon and Surin staged a massive protest at the hillside of Preach Vihear. They accused Thai PM and FM of giving away, not only Preach Vihear but Esarn territories to Cambodia.
According to International Court of Justice (JCL)'s ruling in 1962, Cambodia has only the "Sovereignty" or "Belonging" of Preach Vihear Temple, not the Esarn "Territory" and "Perimeters" on which the temple is situated.
The overlapping area of 4.6 sq. km. around the temple which was bilaterally agreed to maintain as "No-man Land", is now floodly occupied by Khmer. Lao Esarn are chased way or even shot by gun if they step into this "No-man Land".
In order to sound more bravery, the Isarn should step on the no man's land and got shot by the Kmer, one must not be enough to creat the news, 1000 is above average. That is my advice.
They are not Lao Esarn , please next time call them Thai Esarn. Lao don't associated with this event. Preach Vihear Temple belong to Kmere not Thai. So those Thai should stop whining , wake up to the real world. It is the 21 century. Kmere is the rightfull owner of that temple

This is the first time I've seen a Thai article that use Lao Isan instead of just Isan in its story. Isn't it because the Siamese want to use Lao to do it's dirty work like the above poster stated? If this article is true, I believe it's.

I agree with the above post 100%.
That's right. You must come and see the real world. Do not stay only in the jar....
I am surprised by the fact that Thai Isarn people still are called Lao Isarn. Probably the Thai people cannot accept them as Thai.
No doubt, these people staged a protest because they were paid by the group of bad Thai people.
Having looked at the faces of leaders of PAD (anti Thai government group), I feel that they are actually not all real Thai but Chinese living in Thailand.
how stupid thing they are doing ! oh ! poor thai esans ! they are pulled into an enextricable situation that the PAD incited, esans people will be the prey of this confrontation and the PAD will gather the benefit, you`ll see soon ! regards.
i agree this thais problem nothing to do with laos wut the heck are they saying lao isan for????? dang these snaky thais always was and always will be.
they are no longer lao, why call them lao esan ? their heart, their spirit, their mind , their speaking, their behavior are THAI ! for laos esan is the northeast, not the other side of the mekong.

That's right! I think Laos people should stop use the word Lao Issan to refer to Thai Issan! that's nonsense
you know? most people in the south of ESan they are Khmer they are relative with Khmer in Cambodia they speak Khmer also
like Belgium there are peoples speak flemmish in the north and speak french in the south same as Esan peoples in the north speak lao but peoples in the south speak Khmer
i'm from khonkhane and i hate thai central and a lot issaan don't have warm feelings toward thai central...thailand and it's buracracy is headed for a demise. they better start listening and comprimising not mention recognizing other ethinic thais from the north, issaan, and deep south because pretty soon the whole country will be segragated! It's always the one extreme to the next with thailand's political system. But on the bright i'm glad to that our brothers and sisters are doing great in Laos...let's continue to strength our relationship in every aspect that we do! issaan is always with Laos :) and will be forever!
