ຊື່ບ້ານແມ່ນ:
ກິ່ວກະຈຳ ຫຼືວ່າ ກ່ຽວກະຈຳ ?
If it's "ກິ່ວກະຈຳ" the sign is correct...
If it's "ກ່ຽວກະຈຳ" the sign is wrong...

I'm a novice at reading and writing Lao.

Is there a real difference in "ກ່ຽວ" and "ກິ່ວ"??

Is "ກິ່ວ" an older spelling, before the reforms?

if you ever listen to very popular lao song from the early 70-ties, you will hear Korviset sung  "thaidam lamphan"  and kiewkacham is in this very lovely song.
think it is a thaidam village north of VTE. s/o will point out how far from VTE or Vangvieng.

Zak,

It is totally different spelling and pronounciation. I think the romanization of the Lao spelling (on the marker) maybe be the cause of the confusion.

ກ່ຽວ = sound like the word EEL.
ກິ່ວ = sound like the word queue

And I never heard of the village either but I've have not been to many places in Laos either.

Kiew Ka Cham is located on a mountain range near Xieng Ngeun village in Luang Prabang. The name Kiew Ka Cham is well known when it is mentioned in an old Lao song during the 1970.  Ask people in Luang Prabang about the name of this village
