Look everywhere you can see Lao kids-America, Australia, France, Canada, etc. acting, talking, dressing, and being just like black people. They into the hip hop and try to be all "gangsta." What happened to Lao culture? Have they forgot it? Most can't even speak Lao either. Tell me what you think.

Assimilation.
Every generation doesn't like what parent's do, or did. Laos and Lao culture is seem by these kids as "romanticized" and so, there is nothing appealing about it.
I say let them. The Lao nork has no connection to Laos, and who can blame them? Why would you ever want to be connected to the world's poorest communist country or the Asia's poorest country?
Again, I say this in a lot of my posts, there is no sense of Unity amongst Khon Lao anywhere. We were never united, and even now we aren't.
I don't think that's right to say that Khon Lao outside of Laos can't be united with Khon Lao back in Laos. You have to understand that in the countries they were born, grew up or lived in, they're exposed to these types of society, lifestyle and media, different from what is in Laos. They are not properly educated with cultural and languages and history about Laos and don't understand the cultural aspects, so their perspectives are still stuck back in the past from when their parents told them about Laos. Kohn Lao who dress hip hop, is just their lifestyle it really has nothing to do with losing what is being Khon Lao, because those people have a high respect for being Khon Lao. Please don't judge people based on their appearance, because we might not understand why they are what they are.

Can I say the same thing about why some Lao kids speak like White people?
How about why some Lao kids speak ask if they are Texan? Like Howdy, Y'all.
It is wear they live and who live around them. I know a Lao from Alabama and one from Texas. They speak like those American Southerner people.
True some me "TRY" to act Black but who doesn't? Even White people try to act like White or Hispanic.
Lao kids born in America, Canada, Australian, France or anywhere, does not have obligation to be anyting other than who they are. Place like America is a HUGE country and Lao people are spread apart. Some Lao live in a huge Lao community and socialize with each other, their kids would speak Lao. You can say samething for some other Lao live in a middle of a big city or little town without any other Lao beside them. They are not going to speak Lao as good as those live with many Laotians around them.

We can't be unite even if we want to. Lao in Laos always talking sh*t about Lao living in America. Lao in American never say bad thing about them but only criticize the government and never Laos or Laotians. Why would they criticize a place they might have born there or their parents and grandparents born there. Wy would they criticize Lao people when they still have their relative live there.
The true is the misunderstanding my Lao on Laos.
They can't seperate the criticism of Laos goverment versus Laos (the country) or Lao (the people). They think all criticism is abourt Laos and Lao only. Which is totally wrong.
it is not just lao kids that are acting like black... it is mainstream culture.. the hip hop culture... they see it everywhere.. on tv.. at school... majority of those kids growing up in the inner city will most likely dress like black kids.. talks like a black kids..
part of the problem is... starting from parents!! parents probably aren't at home as much.. working all kinds of hour, trying to bring bread and becons to the table.
Im am Lao, born and raise in America and I enjoy hip hop. I dress street but when it come to events like weddings, interviews, meetings and things along that line I put my nice apparel on, my GQ gear. Im educated (Senior at Southern Illinois University). I can speak Lao without mixing it with English unlike most of the Laotian Ameicans do here in the great U S of A. I dont have the white mans accent(Savan accent but sometimes the Pakse accent kicks in cause my father is from the south) and read somewhat because I was a novice at the Wat for 3 summers in a row when I was younger. I dont think Im black and I will never be black(I can turn black in the summer time but I am not black, I can maybe pass for Khmai). I am Lao. I love my culture, my heritage and will never forget my roots. So why is it wrong to dress hip-hop? It's a sub-culture and what is your problem? How is Lao people suppose to be dressing any way? ANSWER ME!!
