The project to turn Nong Chanh area to the amusement park of Laos started from December 2006 and is now almost finished.

Mr. Phetnakhone Pasavath, deputy director of Beungkayong village, and the chairman of Nong chanh Fun park project gave an interview with ecom that: "The construction of Nong Chanh amusement park is covered the area of 12.5 ha. The project is the investment of Malaysian businessman. The cost of this project worth more than 43,6 billion kips.

The project divided into 2 phrases, the first phrase has been completed 95% and is expected to be opened to the public by the end of this year or so. The first phrase covered the area of 6.8 ha under the total cost of around 17.1 billion kips. Many fun themes will be installed such as 6 sets of big slider and 12 sets of small slider. There will have one big swimming pool, one small swiming pool, 3 pools close to the slide, one big zigzag slide, a 4-storey building, a cafeteria, and one member club house.
The second  phrase will emphasis on garden decoration and is expected to take about 16 months to be finished. This phrase is expected to be finished by the end of 2008 or early 2009. This phrase cover the area of 5.7 ha and worth 26.5 billion kips. This phrase will cover the construction of walking, joking and biking path along the park, variety of flowers will be planted, the raft and boat will be supplied, big motobike and car park will be constructed and the high-tech public water class will be built.

i hope it will be ready for mid-january, as they expect.... i'll be there to try this! look great!

What about entrance fees? i hope not too expensive... or only rich tourists would be able to go there.. not most of lao people.

From the photo above, the park is more like a park for kindergarden students in Laos

the marsh behind bus station... just after morning market

It's a very good location... not far from the center of Vientiane

I tought a few years ago i should try to get a land near this place (before knowing about this project).... now i'm sure: it would have been a very good investment... too late now.

The green and clear spot on the right is Nong Chanh (I believe).
The morning market is to the left.

From the picture above, it is just like the children play ground. Not a park.

googleearth uses an old satellite image. It says 2007 but that is clearly 2004 judging from other sites in Vientiane. See there is no new morning market shopping centre.
