(KPL) A project on restoration and expansion of Luang Prabang airport in northern Laos is expected to be carried out next month with low-rate credit loans from the Chinese government.
In the first phase, slated to last for 14 months, the project will cover restoration of the airport’s main facilities, and in the second phase following 30 months, the airport will be expanded, including construction of runway and other auxiliary facilities.
The project is estimated to cost around at 57 million USD. Once completed, the airport will be capable of accommodating large passenger carriers like Airbus and Boeing.
An agreement on the plan is expected to be signed on October 12 between representatives from a Chinese company and the Lao Ministry of Transport, Post and Construction.
I agree to build a larger airport in LPB to accommodate larger airplanes and promote tourism in the province BUT not expanding the current one. This is bacause the current airport is very close to the city and big airplanes will produce a great deal of pollution such as noise and smoke and thus harming the good and clean environment of the city. If you take a flight to LPB you can see the plane fly very low over the city. Also, people on the ground can hear the noise.
will a new airport promote or destroy tourism ????

The photo is from Flickr, it's public, and anyone can download and save it in computer. If you want people to know that's yours, you should have your name embedded in there to mark a copyright. But you can tell the readers here what's your s/n on that Flick photo, because whenever I saved any pic, I never write down the photographer's name.
This does not mean that I didn't want to recognise the good work of the photographer. (most of them are tourists),and I saved thousand of them in my computer.
