How do you know they prefer microphone with cord ?  This picture doesn't prove that they like it better.  Anyway, I take you word for it, I think because the one with cord is more original, the singer feels secured and less nervous when touching the cord while singing than having empty handed literally.

Is the girl in the picture Laotian living in Japan or a Japanese girl wearing Lao costume.

Its probably because Japan has a high concentration of wireless frequencies, so why use a wireless one and get some weird signal mixed up?
