Ngo Phuong Lan, 20 year old student studying in Switzerland, was crowned Miss Vietnam World,  dominating among 36 others at the final round held in Vinpearl, Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa province last night.





The 1.7metre tall girl who is now studying diplomacy also won the prize for best question and answer contest. She was also awarded US $ 20,000 for the prize.

The first runner up is Teresa Sam (21 years old, 1.7m) from the UK and the second runner up is Dang Minh Thu (19 year old, 1.68m) from Nam Dinh province. Each received US $ 8,000 and 5,000 respectively.




Teresa Sam was before crowned the Miss Vietnam in the UK while Dang Minh Thu won the Miss Vietnam Beach 2007.


Natalya Tran, 21 years old, Miss Vietnam in the Commonwealth of Independent States and Vu Ngoc An, 18 year old from Hanoi were among five most beauty queens together with the three top titles of the contest.

wow... many of them are imported from abroad.
The winner is now studying in Switzerland
and the runner could not speak Vietnamese properly, but still go to the final.

How about miss Laos?
I wonder if Lao girls abroad can apply ?

You mean Lao girls abroad apply to Miss Lao World in Laos or Miss Vietnam World?  We will someday have Lao girls abroad go back to Laos and run our own Miss Lao World.

Is Miss Vietnam World going to compete in the Miss Universe?  If so, I would say, she won't make it the first round.  You know there's the universal beauty thing.  She might look good for the Vietnamese, but not to other culture.

It would be very difficult to find smart lao girl with cute face and excel in English.
