four hydropower projects operated in Southern Laos by the endof this year
(KPL) A developer has completed its three-month survey and design for the construction of four hydropower projects in two southern provinces of Attapue and Sekong.
“At present we are making an economic analysis for the construction of the four projects and believe that at the end of this year the construction will be commenced,” said the project manager of the construction of four hydropower projects, Mr Nikon Duangkeo.
“We started the survey and design at the end of last year and completed in this August. What we have achieved so far also include the survey of the construction of roads and bridges accessing the construction sites, a clearance of unexploded ordnance (UXO) in the projects’ areas of Sekong 4, and Namkong 1, and we plan to complete other work of clearance for Sekong 5 in this September,” said Mr Nikon.
It is expected that at the end of this year the government will approve the development of Sekong 4 and Namkong 1, and once the projects get approved road will be constructed to access these construction sites and Sekong 5 with the total length of 122 km.

you are right. in year 2020, our country will have about 20 big dams for exporting and many small dams for domestic use. so our dream wanting to battery of ASEAN is not so far to reach. As we see, Brunei which is so small country with so small number of population, but they are very rich by selling oil. so Laos can be strong by selling electricity.
