KPL) More than 4,440 new graduate from the National University of Laos in the academic year of 2006-2007 are ready to devote themselves for national development.
This was the seventh group of students who completed their education from the National University of Laos since its establishment in 1996.
A ceremony to present the certificate of educative completion was held on 3 September at the National University, Dongdok campus.
Standing Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavad was invited as a honorable guest to present the certificate to the new graduates.
Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Soukongseng Sayaleue, Dean of the National University of Laos said the National University has been established since 1996 and so far 10 academic year has been operated.
The students completed in 2006-2007 academic year were master, bachelor, and high diploma. They has taken 5-7 years for study and train themselves. Associate Professor Soukongseng added that new graduates are ready to serve the national and people based on their studied fields and labour market in Laos.
New graduates were 19 foreign students including six Cambodian students.
On this occasion, Mr. Somsavat Lengsavad, on behalf of Lao Government, expressed congratulations to all teachers for their great contribution to help the students completing their education which is a part of national human development in order to bring the nation from the list of least developed countries in the future.
More than 4000 students graduated, that's quite a lot of, in the aspect LAO's population, that's many not few. I myself a student of Networking, at Canberra Instution of Technology Australia, last year for IT Networking the CIT only produced more than 80 students out of more than 100. So I think it's okay that Lao university had that acheivement.
We must see these graduates as a number relative to the rest of the population that would like to study at university in Laos. For a national university 4,000 is an expected number, but lets not forget that only a third of all students seeking university places get them. And anyay, CIT, is a small university, not a good comparison. ANU is a better comparison and it has thousands of graduates each year.
But according to the head of this topic it stated ' only 4000 students graduated' the word graduated means you finished your study, you are going to get your certificate, your qualification....not students attending or expect to attend....to Lao university....attending and graduate are 2 different things...attending is you have not finished your study yet....graduate you finished your study... Of course we can not compare Australia and Lao, head to head because Australia is a rich country, each state has it own university so to compare head to head then forget about
