(17-07-2007)
Vientiane — The Government of Laos has announced a plan to build a 121-km road that will link the country’s southern province of Sekong to the border it shares with northern Viet Nam , said Deputy Governor of Sekong Province Lieng Khamphoune.
The asphalted road will cost close to US$50 million with the first phase of work to take place between Sekong to Dakcheung in Laos and the second phase to run from Dakcheung to the Vietnamese border.
Once completed in 2013, the road is expected to facilitate trade between Lao’s southern provinces as well as provinces of Thailand into Central Viet Nam. — VNS
