Vientiane plans to be drug free zone by 2015

(KPL) Vientiane Capital will address on preventing and suppressing the trade of narcotic drugs in response to its ambition efforts to make Vientiane Capital as illicit drugs free area by 2015.

Over the past one year, Vientiane had an outstanding achievement in the control and suppression of narcotic drugs but the drug trafficking and transporting, addict drugs have existed in the capital.

By the way, it needs to make a great decision to crack down and suppress to drug traffickers, traders and drug addicts by severe measure based on law.
Dr Sinlavong Koudphaithoun, Vientiane Mayor who is also honorable Chairman of Committee for Drug Control and Suppression of Vientiane Capital made a strong sound in his keynote speech on 26 June to mark International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, held in Chanthabouly Administrative Office.


Over the past one-year, there are some number of drug traffickers has been detained and it was able to rehabilitate a number of drugs addicts. The drug is main issue of Vientiane and it is also a challenge issue of society therefore the participation of people to an anti-drug process is needy, Mayor called for.
Mayor added that this is an urgent work to deal with in this year, which will build a number of drug free villages in all districts by holding village as focal zones to curb.



Now Vientiane has established 11 post boxes to receive information from good citizens, along with the establishment of anti-drug funds entire Vientiane Capital to help drug victims.
