Youtube.com is blocked in Laos, although I do not believe this has been initiated by the Lao government. Lao Internet Service Providers (ISPs) access the internet via Thai ISPs. Thailand has blocked youtube due to videos being shown that were thought to be offensive to their King. Offending the King is a heinous crime in Thailand. His revered status is probably more so than the British royals, even at their height of popularity. A Swiss man was sentenced to 10 years jail, though later pardoned by the King, for painting graffiti on portraits of the King while in a drunken state.
Apparently very little internet filtering takes place in Laos, apart from the odd pornographic site. Other than youtube.com I have not encountered any internet censorship issues.
Ok why block a site in Laos just because thailand feel offensive about there king? I mean Laos ppl dont care about the king plus is not lao king anyway why ban in laos???????? Anyway this banning thing should take action coz lao is not or most of us dont agree baning youtube in laos!!! If youtube internet server from thailand so offended then i think laos should just do it own server instead of thai company making all this issue a big deal! And bring there own issue to Laos is not kool is not like we care about this king issue. Is about Laos ppl and we are not like thai ppl. whatever is of the issue of thai stay in thailand. And not in Laos period!!!!
