Mr Phouvane Vongsouthi, with his AFC Silver Star Award at the AFC Congress in Kuala Lumpur
Outgoing Vice President of the Lao Football Federation Mr Phouvane Vongsouthi has become the first Lao football officer to receive an Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Silver Star Award.
The award ceremony was held last week at the 22 nd AFC Congress in Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia .
The AFC Executive Committee announced the awards in three categories to board committee members, coaches and referees and those who have rendered meritorious services to the development and promotion of football in the Asian continent.
The award for the Gold Star is reserved for individuals who have served for 30 years, the Silver Star goes to those who have served for 20 years, and the Bronze Star rewards those who have served for 10 years. The awards were presented by FIFA President Sepp Blatter.
The Gold Star was awarded to representatives from the football associations of Hong Kong , India and Singapore .
The Silver Star was awarded to representatives from Laos , Malaysia and Mongolia , while the Bronze Star was presented to representatives of Guam, Hong Kong , Iraq , Japan , Kyrgyzstan , Lebanon , Nepal , Oman , the Philippines , Sri Lanka and Vietnam .
