Vietnam’s anti-corruption agencies and around 50 international donors will discuss the battle against corruption and ways to improve it on Friday.
The agencies would report on anti-corruption policies and progress as well as present new initiatives at the dialogue, said Nguyen Van Thanh, head of the Inspection Science Institute, the event host.
The two groups would discuss the functions and tasks of anti-corruption agencies in Vietnam and consider cooperating to draft new plans, he added.
Vietnam plans to organize this event twice yearly before the unofficial mid-year Consultative Group (CG) meeting in June and the official CG meeting in December.
In recent CG meetings, which discussed the effective and efficient use of official development assistance for Vietnam, bilateral and multilateral donors spoke highly of Vietnam’s efforts to fight corruption, which they said was essential to improving the country’s competitiveness.
They underlined public finance management transparency, resource distribution, spending, auditions and inspections as the key areas to be evaluated to guarantee a victory in the fight against corruption.
