OSAKA — Kansai Electric Power Co is planning to build a hydroelectric power station in Laos in cooperation with a Thai public corporation and others by spending about 60 billion yen ($506.36 million), company sources said Tuesday.
The consortium will build a 160-meter-high dam and power station along the Nam Ngiep River near the Thai boundary, the sources said. The project, aimed at supplying power to Thailand and Laos, comes as part of the Japanese utility's efforts to expand business in overseas markets where electricity demand is likely to increase.Source: Japan Today
Almost everyday, I've read that Laos is building a lot of dams. I wonder that one day Laos will become the nation of the "Lake".
But, I wish that money they'll earn be distributed and use for further development instead of putting in the pocket of some very high ranking LPDR government....just my two kips
I just hope that most of the profit goes to the country and not someone's personal pocket so their kids and destory the country or to Thailand. I don't hate thailand land, but i think too many investor are thais...scary, Thai invest...Vietnam wants the land....at the end lets just hand it over to JAPAN!!!! ahahahahah okay i'm serious doh, as proud of my bloodline (LAO) ancestor Fah Ngum ~~~> Chao Mengrai or to Nan Chao.....if we do have to be run by other nation. I'd rather have Japan.
