TV program that show how Lao people think about Thai products

New Lao docummentary calls: "Long Nam Khong" or "Along the Mekong river", which broadcast on Lao TV channel 1, gain a lot of popularity among Lao people.

This is the example of episode from this Lao docummentary entitle: "Lao people and Thai products".



This is a scene of supermarket in Vientiane. Inside of the supermarket, there are full of thai products which attract a lot of lao people to buy.


This is a scene at local market, where thai products have a lot of influence to lao daily life.


Thai products look very colorful and delicious for Lao people.


Lao people from small kids to old age people watch Thai TV everyday.


Thai TV has more variety of program compare to Lao TV


Thai music, not only pop, rock music that popular among lao people, but also thai folksong "Morlum" is also very popular.


Lao people is now very care about their skin, and thai cosmetics are their number one choice.


Miss Noy said, because Laos can not produce some of these products, and thai products have higher quality, that's why i choose to use thai products instead.


Even Lao telephone prepaid card still have to order from Thailand


Lao people like to follow thai fashion and prefer to buy thai style outfits.


A lot of bags which have nicer design from Thailand, also very popular among Lao ladies.


Mrs. Duangpee said, she likes to use thai products.


Look at Lao kitchen, you will hardly find any Lao souces !


Ms. Noy and Ms. Tim, staff from International Organization in Laos said, they want to help and buy Lao products as much as possible. However, Thai products always attracts their decisions.


When asking what products Lao people want the country to produce


I want Laos to produce somethings that commonly use in the daily life.


I want Laos to produce different kind of cosmetic products.


I want Laos to produce instant food, such as noodle, can products, etc.. so that we will not buy from Thailand


Lao people are not only buy thai products in Laos, but also across the bridge to shop in Thailand.

I like to watch "Long Nam Khong" which broadcast on Lao TV. Do they continue their programe again? The young Lao presenters are very interesting to Lao people. I think they are better than some professional.

If the Lao can make their own goods they will not go and buy from the neighboring country. Since we are unable to produce we comsume from the other. Maybe in the future we are strong enouch technicaly and economically we can stand on our own two feet and proud to  have our own product like lao beer and soon our own nam pa , shampoo, soap, dish soap,  companies ect. that is made by Lao... Lao pee nong will support our Nation you leo...... Go Lao

we lost money for Thai products
we lost BRAIN for UK, USA, AUS, JP (scholarship students)
we lost water for China (3 chinese DAM across Mekhong river)
we lost resource for Australian mine
we lost freedom for France
we lost high government officers for Vietnam policy


Which is the worst?
What will we lost next?

It is not we lost everything but we lack of good people, good leaders not only good but have brain as well. I think what Lao people should do now is to increase the high level of education, government is so slack. My hometown is now waiting for electicity for 4 years. But where the hell are all the reposible sectors? They are really ****ty ... they never come and look around ... the electricity cables and everything is settled but the problem is we still can't have it. That is really sucky

It is obvious those people who have brain they do not want to live here because the people who are powerful in ruling are full of corruption but never pay attention to the developement of the nations

I love Lao country but I hate the stupid people who control the power but do nothing for the countryfuriousfuriousfuriousfurious
