Indebted farmers threaten to go to Laos

(BangkokPost.com) - More than 300 debt-ridden farmers dispersed Wednesday after a week of failed attempt in getting assistance from the government in settling their debts.

The protesters gathered in front of the Government House since last Monday to ask the government to give concrete measures to help them settling debts after those who failed to repay their debts for creditors including financial institutions and agricultural cooperatives started seizing their assets.

The protestors expressed disappointment with the government's reaction and intention to help the farmers, considered the grassroots of the Thai economy.

The group representatives said they would migrate to Laos and set up an immigration centre there. They said they would hand their Thai identification cards back to the government before entering the neighbouring country in response to the government's negligence to the villagers.

The group planned to meet National Legislative Assembly members before migrating to Laos.

LOL, Interesting issues... wonder would they be able to come... and yes they won't make their life any better... Infrastructure are not that favourable...

If only their migration is only ment to seek peace and serinity on the other side of mekong River... My oh my... what's wrong with the world today...

And seems that you are the only person who is active and starting most of the thread... here.... Interested in Doing any Torrent Tracker...?

They must be crazy ! There are not much land for planting rice in Laos.  LAOS is mountainous country, did they know that?  They need to parade to Bangkok and see the king first !!!!

Why move to Lao. Thai people always think that Lao is behine the world and that you guys are better than the neighboring country, how come you can not support your own people? Why let them seek support from the Lao the so call poor and undevelope country like us, very confuse.... Explain why Thai gov. not lending a hand to help solve it.  Sad, Sad.......ashamed

How can the Lao help? We are so poor and uneducated and uncivilize , Thai people always put the Lao people down ,and think that you are better than the neighboring country so why would you want to seek imgration to Lao? You should be embarass for migrating there.... confused

I never thought that Thai people would move to Lao, because I hear how the way Thai talk to Lao like the Lao are under their feet all the time. Now what is this seeking immigration???? Thai gove. Please help your people....

Thai step on Lao at all time when they have the chance. Now that Lao is properous Thai want a piece of a pie. Think Lao people before you deal with neighboring country.

yes, they always say lao is poor, and undeveloped. so that is strange, it should be like lao people want to move to live in THailand, but contrary what they want from us. confuseconfused

It is true that Laos is undeveloped country, but Lao enjoy their life. we  feel very warm in our country. so Those farmers they feel so hot, and so trouble, even poor country like Laos they still want to move in.

Lao Govern. just observed and deeply smiled in this case of old lao citizen. lao Govern. open their mind every time for old lao citizen even Chinese, Vietnamese or other.....also could stay in laos why not old lao citizen .......we are welcome
