Two years on my premium 80Ah – here's the honest verdict
Permalink

Back in early 2024 I bit the bullet and paid for a higher end 80Ah battery after getting tired of replacing cheap ones every 18 months. Went with the Premium 80Ah Battery Replacement Amaron Dubai because a mechanic said their premium line has better plate thickness and more acid. Fast forward to now, through two brutal summers of 50 degree heat, and it's still cranking my Land Cruiser like day one. No slow starts, no weird voltage drops, and I've even run my winch a few times without killing it. I was skeptical at first but honestly the extra money saved me from buying two cheap batteries anyway. If your car has a lot of accessories or you just want to forget about the battery for a few years, go for the premium tier. Just make sure whoever installs it registers the warranty properly.

Two summers of 50 degree heat without a single slow start on a Land Cruiser is exactly the kind of real world result that justifies paying more upfront. The plate thickness difference genuinely matters in extreme heat cycling.

Running a winch without killing the battery is a serious test of reserve capacity. Most standard batteries would struggle with that kind of sudden high draw on top of regular accessory load.

Two cheap batteries in 18 months versus one premium lasting two years and counting is the math that makes the upgrade decision obvious in hindsight. The per month cost works out significantly better on the premium tier.

Warranty registration being mentioned specifically is a good reminder. Premium batteries with unregistered warranties are essentially just expensive ones with no backup if something goes wrong before the coverage period ends.

Land Cruiser owners running accessories tend to notice battery quality differences faster than regular passenger car drivers. High electrical demand combined with desert heat is the ultimate stress test and two years of passing it speaks for itself.
