What Should You Check Before Buying a Water Tank in Kenya?

Water shortages are becoming common in many parts of Kenya, so installing a reliable water tank is one of the smartest investments you can make. However, many buyers focus only on price and end up with tanks that crack or leak after a short time.

Before purchasing, check whether the tank is made from food-grade plastic and has proper UV protection. Kenya’s sunlight can be harsh, and low-quality materials deteriorate quickly. Wall thickness and reinforced ribbing are also important because they determine how well the tank handles pressure when full.

Think carefully about capacity as well. A small household might manage with 2,000 to 3,000 litres, but larger families, farms, or businesses may need much more. Proper installation on a level base is essential for safety and durability.

In the long run, investing in quality saves money and prevents the inconvenience of replacements. What has been your experience with water tanks? Which size or type works best for you?
