(KPL) A complex automobile assembly plant in central province of Khammouane, with the employment capacity of over 2,000 workers is expected to assemble motorbike and automobile by next three years.
A groundbreaking ceremony of a complex automobile assembly plant was held in Khammouane province, which was in coincide with the officially opening ceremony of the 3rd Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge, on 11 November.
The decision-making of factory establishment of the Jo Bounmy Company come out after Khammouane administration granted the company a land concession on 720 ha.
Mrs. Bounmy Bang-onesengdeth, chairwoman of Jo Bounmy a local company said the investment was implemented under the government's mechanism and policy on value-added products before export and given job opportunities for locals and increasing income.
The land concession of over 700 ha will not only be developed as an assembly plant, but also different factories as well as a high-heeled hotel where its location at the end of 3rd Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge, a special economic development zone in Veun village, Thakhek district.
She further stated that this area will be a factory zone for production of finished-goods of industrial processing for export and other service, ranging from Motorbike and automobile assembly plant, to electronic assembly plant and garment factory.
The company will pour more than US$1.5 billion in the construction of industrial processing area.
