If you mean the bean dish on the front page, we have it down as Soop Mak Tua Nyaow, or steamed green beans with sawtooth herb and either ginger or sesame seeds.
The staff of the restaurant obtained it while they were working with a few Akha villages near Muang Sing, developing a community based ecotourism trekking business. So we have it down as an authentic Akha dish.

If you like lao food pix, see many more on my photo website;

I couldn't respond earlier, we drove from our Thai house to Vientiane last week, then up to Luang Prabang, where we met our friends at the Tradinional Arts and Ethnology Centre (www.Teaclaos.org), and ate some wonderful LP food.

Then on to Luang Namtha, by minibus, the road was too damaged by recent rain to take our tiny Honda Jazz. In LN we presented the book to the cooks at The Boatlanding GuestHouse. They loved seeing the final book in print, and were also delighted to hear that people online in USA and other countries are now able to see their food, and are actually discussing it.
Until 10 years ago there was no electricity in Luang Namtha province, and no internet.

We ate ouselves silly for 4 days, and just got back to Viantiane yesterday.
We'll be doing a presentation about Northern Lao Food tomorrow night to the Womans international Group in Vientiane.

Chok Dee Der!
