Vientiane considers underground power line running

(KPL) Vientiane Mayor, Sombath Yialiheu, on June 15, convened a meeting of relevant officials to discuss the laying of electric cables on the side walk of roads in Vientiane Capital.

Presently, the overhead electric lines were strung in a most disorderly manner so that both local and foreign visitors commented unfavourably on the layout of the lines, said Mr. Sombath.

The office of the mayor of Vientiane had thought of laying underground cables but it would have to discuss this with the Electricite du Laos or EDL.

According to Mr. Sombath, the crucial aspect of any discussion on laying underground cables would be the high cost of such a form of infrastructure building and that the residents of Vientiane would have to be pay a portion of the additional cost.

He said the restructuring of such a system could lead to the crafting of a master plan and coupled with the backing of legislations, it would eventually lead codified laws governing the entire system of the the laying of electric lines in this capital city of Laos.

The resolution this issue is part of the process of promoting orderliness in Vientiane capital so that this queen city of Laos would be a livable and attractive city for all, added Mr. Sombath.

the govt must finish this project as soon as possible!!!!otherwise...there are many caples , mess up
