(KPL) Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR, Mr. Phongsavath Boupha, on June 1 opened the Lao Embassy in Vienna, capital of Austria.
Attending the ceremony were Secretary-General for Foreign Affairs of Austria, Mr. Johannes Kyrle and relevant officials of Laos and Austria as well as international diplomats and representatives of international organisations in Austria.
The Lao embassy in Austria is the 26th of its kind Laos has established in foreign lands. The Lao PDR and Austria established diplomatic ties in 1967 and over 43 years of the diplomatic ties, the Austrian government has contributed to the socio-economic development in the Lao PDR.
Mr. Phongsavath also met officials of key ministries of Austria on the mutual cooperation between Laos and Austria in the future and introduced policies of the Lao government, especially its seventh national socio-economic development plan and share viewpoints on regional and international issues.
